SJMC is also a designated Primary Stroke Center by DNV GL, which indicates we are committed to providing a multidisciplinary stroke program for all patients that present with the signs and symptoms of a stroke or experience a stroke within our facility. We adhere to strict guidelines that assist in the improvement of stroke prevention measures through education, and evidence-based practices for treatment and rehabilitation.

2016 Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for its Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG) – Stroke Program
- This is the highest achievement awarded by the associations in recognition of a commitment to provide quality stroke care.
- Hospitals must achieve 85% or higher for all GWTG indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month periods and achieve 75% or higher compliance with five of eight program measures
