Patients & Visitors
Welcome to St. Joseph Medical Center
At St. Joseph Medical Center, our goal is to provide you and your loved ones with the best possible care and service while here. That’s why we work to minimize paperwork, increase conveniences and ensure that our friendly staff members are always available to assist you.
We encourage your family and friends to support you through your hospitalization. Visiting hours are designed to provide you with periods of rest so vital to your recovery. There are only a few limitations we ask your visitors to respect
Visiting a Patient
General visiting hours for most patient care areas are from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Extended hours are available to immediate family. Parents of pediatric patients are permitted to visit 24 hours a day. Visiting hours for the intensive care units are limited and vary. For further details about specific visiting hours and restrictions, call information desk at 713.757.1000 and ask the hospital operator to connect you to the nurses station of the area you wish to visit.
Priests, rabbis, and other members of the clergy are welcome to visit patients any time except when certain types of care or treatment are in progress.
Children Visiting Children may visit but must be accompanied by and remain with an adult at all times.
Patient Safety
In the interest of safety for our patients, anyone who has symptoms of colds, e.g., runny nose and fever or sneezing & coughing, should not visit hospitalized patients. If you do wish to visit with a respiratory illness then you are requested to discuss with the caregiver what you should do to reduce the risk to the hospitalized patient, e.g., hand hygiene and wearing a mask.
Flowers
Flowers may be brought in by visitors, delivered to the hospital, or delivered by the hospital's gift shop to all patient care areas except the intensive care units. When bringing fresh-cut flowers, please bring a vase or container.
Smoke-free
To take exceptional care of people and to promote the health and wellness of the people and communities we serve, St. Joseph Medical Center provides a smoke-free environment for patients, visitors, physicians and employees.
