Step One: Wound Assessment
All patients at the Advanced Wound Care Center are referred to us by a primary care physician. In the event that you do not have a primary care physician, but believe that you have a wound that needs special treatment, then we will help you obtain a primary care physician who will be a part of your personal health team.
Once we have received the referral, we will call you to schedule your first appointment. Prior to this initial visit, your physician’s office should obtain authorization from your insurance provider on your behalf.
Your First Visit
Our clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Your appointment will be scheduled with a board certified physician specialized in caring for your type of wound (foot, bone, vascular, etc.).
During this initial visit, a nurse will perform lab work and go over your medical history. Some basic non-invasive vascular studies will also be completed or scheduled: ultrasounds, ABI test, blood pressure test, transcutaneous oxygen monitoring (TCOM), etc.
Your wound care physician will then review your case and propose an initial treatment plan, which will begin during your next visit. Learn about the wound treatment options that may be available for you.
